A Google Search profile is a free, public page on Google that gathers content from your linked YouTube, Instagram, X and TikTok accounts. It lives inside Google Search and Discover, so people can reach it from your Knowledge Panel, from the Discover feed or through a direct link.
Each profile can show:
Your profile content comes only from the social accounts you link. Web links appear as links, but they do not feed the posts section. New posts from linked accounts typically appear within 24 hours, and Google’s help pages say it can take up to 48 hours.
Google Search profile eligibility got much easier this year. Google launched Search profiles in the US on 4 June 2026 and required 100,000 followers on YouTube, Instagram, or X, or 300,000 on TikTok. It later lowered the bar in stages, and the requirement is now 10,000. Google’s rules today are:
One point matters for India. TikTok is banned here, so Indian users will qualify through YouTube, Instagram or X.
You cannot create a Search profile yet. Keep your name, bio and links consistent across your website and social accounts while you grow one platform past 10,000. If you run a local clinic or office, claim a Google Business Profile in the meantime.

Here is how to create a Google Search profile. Setup takes a few minutes, plus Google’s review time for name and bio changes.
Founders: Investors, hires and customers search your name before meeting you. Give them one trusted page with your interviews, podcast clips and company website.
Doctors: Many Indian doctors now explain health topics on YouTube or Instagram. A profile helps patients confirm they found the right doctor, not someone with a similar name. Link your clinic website and keep every claim factual, as health content is held to a higher standard. Doctors should also follow the National Medical Commission’s rules on advertising and patient solicitation.
Agencies: Claim a profile for your agency brand if it has a following. One Google account can create up to 10 separate Search profiles for the brands or identities you manage, so you can help qualifying clients. Agree on ownership first. Access is tied to the Google account that claims a profile, and reports suggest a claimed profile is hard to move to another account. Where possible, ask the client to claim it with their own Google account, and link only accounts that belong to that brand.

Google says a Search profile does not directly change your rankings. So why bother?
Because a clear, consistent identity makes it easier for search systems to tell you apart from other people with your name. A Search profile ties your accounts to one identity that Google has reviewed. Google’s creator support page also says a Knowledge Panel features an AI-generated summary based on your bio, so a clear bio matters. A profile may also create or enhance a Knowledge Panel.
Google has not said whether other AI tools, such as ChatGPT, use Search profiles. Treat the profile as one part of a consistent identity, not as a guaranteed AI visibility tactic. That makes it a quick win for personal branding on Google. Pair it with matching bios everywhere, as our guide to branded GEO explains.

Yes. Google opened Search profiles to creators and publishers in India on 6 October 2026. The feature is also available in Canada and the United States.
You need at least 10,000 followers or subscribers on one platform: YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok. You must also be 18 or older, and your content must follow Google’s content policies.
Yes. Google’s help pages describe no fee for creating or managing a Search profile.
No. Only YouTube, Instagram, X and TikTok count towards the follower requirement. You can still add your LinkedIn page as one of your 8 web links.
Not directly. Google says creating a Search profile does not affect your content’s ranking. People who follow you from your profile may see more of your content in Google Discover.
New content from linked accounts typically goes live within 24 hours, and Google’s profile management page says it can take up to 48 hours. Changes to your name, bio or social links need Google’s approval and stay in Pending status until reviewed.
Profiles are designed to appear when people search for you specifically. If your name is common, search your @handle instead. If the profile still does not appear, use Send feedback in Edit mode.
Yes. You can create up to 10 separate Search profiles from one Google account, one for each brand or identity you manage, such as a personal brand and a podcast. Claim each profile with care, because access is tied to the Google account that claims it.
