Google Expands Search Console’s Generative AI Report to More Properties

Week in Brief

  • Google’s Generative AI performance report reached far more Search Console properties, giving more site owners dedicated visibility into AI Overview and AI Mode impressions.
  • Google published the AI Max migration schedule; affected Search campaigns will begin auto-upgrading on September 01.
  • Google expanded Ask Advisor across Google Ads and Google Analytics with AI summaries, conversational insights and prompt-built dashboards.
  • Google Ads will remove campaign-level language targeting from Search and AI Max campaigns in late September.
  • Google Ads target-based bidding is changing from August 17. Any budget-limited campaign beating its target will drift up toward that target

Google’s Generative AI Performance Report Expands Across More Search Console Properties

Google originally launched its dedicated Generative AI performance reports in Search Console on June 03 2026, initially restricting access to a subset of websites while it tested the feature and gathered feedback. During the initial rollout, the report was not visible across every Search Console property and was mostly visible to the sites where Google had sufficient Generative AI impression data to report. Google’s own documentation still notes that the report may not appear if a site has not received enough impressions within generative AI features.

The rollout took a significant step forward on 11 August, when SEO professionals began seeing the Generative AI report appear across a much broader range of Search Console properties. White Bunnie’s Marketing Team found the report across 19 out of roughly 20 properties it checked. This makes August 11 better characterized as a major expansion of the rollout rather than a completed global launch.

The report isolates impressions generated when URLs from a site appear within AI Overviews and AI Mode in Google Search. Site owners can analyze those impressions by page, country, device and date, while Google provides a separate Generative AI performance report for Discover. The dedicated report currently focuses on visibility and impressions rather than clicks, CTR or the individual prompts/queries responsible for each AI impression.

What this expansion of AI Performance Report matters for B2B, ITES and SaaS

The significance of the August expansion is that AI visibility measurement is no longer limited to a relatively small group of Search Console properties. Many more B2B and SaaS marketers can now directly see which pages Google is surfacing inside its generative search experiences instead of trying to infer AI visibility from fluctuations in conventional organic traffic. This is particularly valuable for category, educational and top-of-funnel content such as “what is [category],” “how does [process] work,” comparison pages and solution-oriented resources.

Treat AI impressions as a visibility signal. Pair them with page-level organic traffic, assisted conversions and lead quality before drawing a commercial conclusion.

Action for this week after AI Performance goes live

In Search Console, open Performance > Generative AI for every relevant property. If the report is available, record a baseline for total impressions and the leading pages, countries and devices. Annotate the date, compare AI-visible URLs with priority landing pages and conversions, and review changes weekly; do not report AI impressions as clicks or leads.

Google Publishes the AI Max Migration Schedule for Search Campaigns

Google confirmed that from September 1–30, 2026, Search campaigns using either Campaign-level Broad Match or standalone Automatically Created Assets (ACA) will be automatically migrated to AI Max for Search. Existing brand inclusions/exclusions are preserved, while Search Term Matching becomes enabled in the migrated configurations. Dynamic Search Ads have a separate migration timeline, now pushed to February 2027.

Google also says the creation of new legacy campaign-level Broad Match and ACA configurations has already been blocked across the UI, Ads Editor and API on August 03, 2026.

What this AI Max Migration means for B2B, ITES and SaaS

This hits B2B lead-generation accounts hardest because campaign-level broad match and Automatically Created Assets are common in exactly those setups. On migration, Automatically Created Assets campaigns get search term matching and text customization on by default, and broad-match-setting campaigns get search term matching on by default. That default widens the queries your ads can serve against, which can pull spend toward looser matches unless you set the controls yourself. Migrating voluntarily before September 01, 2026 lets you configure those settings rather than inherit Google’s defaults.

Flag any Search campaign using campaign-level broad match or Automatically Created Assets, and migrate it yourself before September 01, 2026, to keep control of query matching.

Google added AI agents and conversational reporting to Google Ads and GA4

Google is expanding its Ask Advisor assistant with agentic capabilities across Google Ads and Google Analytics. GA4 now shows AI Overviews on the homepage that summarise what changed since your last login, with opt-in email and mobile alerts. Google Ads gets a redesigned homepage with AI insight cards and natural-language questions answered by Ask Advisor. Google is also adding Dashboards in Google Ads that build visual reports from text prompts, with Analytics support coming.

What this expansion of Ask Advisor Capabilities means for B2B, ITES and SaaS

For B2B and SaaS teams, this can shorten the path from a performance change to a useful question. It does not remove the need to validate attribution, sales-stage context or lead quality. Treat the AI explanation as a hypothesis to test against the raw report, rather as the final finding behind a budget decision.

Check whether the beta is available in your main Ads and Analytics accounts. Test one AI-generated insight against the underlying report and document any mismatch before adding it to the weekly reporting workflow.

Google dropped the minimum follower count required to be approved for a Search Profile

Google dropped the minimum number of followers previously needed to be approved for a Search Profile. Search Profiles are a consumer-creator feature, so for a B2B, ITES, or SaaS company, this carries minimal direct implication. It does not change how your company’s pages or content are ranked or cited. Noted for completeness.

On Our Radar for Next Week Starting August 17, 2026

Google Ads target-based bidding change lands August 17: From August 17, Google Ads pushes Target CPA, Target ROAS, and Demand Gen Target CPC campaigns that are limited by budget toward the target you actually set, rather than letting them overperform it. Any budget-limited campaign beating its target will drift up toward that target, so audit those campaigns and reset targets to recent performance before then. The Bid Target Adjustment Tool has been available since July 06.

Gemini 3.7 Flash rolling out in Google Search: Google began rolling Gemini 3.7 Flash into AI Mode in Google Search globally, starting with Google AI Pro and Ultra users in English. A model change behind AI Mode and AI Overviews can shift which sources get summarised, so watch your new Generative AI report for movement once it lands.

Questions We Were Asked in the week ended on August 16

The new Generative AI report shows AI impressions, but our clicks haven’t moved. Is something wrong?

Not necessarily. The dedicated report measures impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode; it does not show clicks, CTR or prompts. Use it to understand exposure, then compare the visible pages with page-level organic traffic and conversions. Because the standard Performance report includes broader Web Search data, you still cannot isolate AI-driven clicks.

One of our Search campaigns uses the campaign-level broad match setting. Do we need to act before September?

Act if you want to review and document the settings before Google migrates the campaign. Automatic upgrades begin September 01, and Search Term Matching will be on by default. Audit brand controls, negatives, landing-page behavior and lead-quality baselines before either migrating manually or allowing the automatic upgrade.

Should we let Ask Advisor’s AI summaries run our weekly reporting?

Use them to accelerate analysis, not to replace it. Validate the explanation against raw metrics, attribution settings and CRM outcomes before it influences the budget. The beta can surface a useful hypothesis quickly, but it does not know the full pipeline context for B2B.

Our rankings jumped around midweek. Was there a Google update?

Google has not announced a ranking update for this period. The Google Search Status Dashboard lists the June 2026 spam update as the latest confirmed ranking change. Before changing content or technical settings, segment Search, Discover and News traffic and check whether a site release, template change, tracking issue or seasonality matches the movement.

White Bunnie Observation

White Bunnie’s marketing team found the report in 19 of approximately 20 Search Console properties checked. Within that sample, pages earning AI Overview or AI Mode impressions were not always the pages with the highest conventional organic rankings. This is a useful directional observation, not evidence that content structure caused the visibility difference. Use the report to identify pages for qualitative review, covering answer clarity, source support, freshness, internal linking and commercial relevance. Then validate patterns over a larger sample and a longer period.
